Because this is Valentine’s week, I thought it would be fun to discuss Lucien and Jean’s romance – as if we need an excuse! I was thinking about all the times Lucien and Jean choose to stay – to stick it out and make their relationship work. For me, it started with Episode 1.2 when Jean applies for a job with the Royal Cross Hotel. After pretending to be indifferent and saying it is her business, Lucien asks her to remain in the house even if she gets the job. He wants her to help him - a blind eye, a good talking to from time to tiime. She agrees. At the end, when she tells him she doesn’t expect to get the job, he tears up and says he's rather glad. What times do you remember when they choose to stay?

One of the things that hooked me on TDBM was how tightly scripted the episodes are - not a wasted word or action. The flip side is that sometimes we're left wanting a bit more. For example, in ep. 5.7 Jean was upset with Lucien, but in ep. 5.8 she has forgiven him. What happened? We may have a clue in the Season 5, ep. 7 & 8 bloopers on you tube. There's a scene where Lucien and Jean are holding hands in his study. She hands him Munro's notebook and tells him that everyone deserves a second chance. That scene never made the final cut. Many of you will know that during our campaigns to save the show, I built our amazing group a "Save Doctor Blake Mysteries" website on Weebly. But now that our show has been saved, I have been kept busy making some big changes to the website, with help from fellow admins and members.

Some of you may have noticed that the old website had been down for the last 2 months. This is because our website has been converted to a brand new, exciting, Fan Site, jam packed filled with lots and lots of juicy content ranging from Character Bios to Actor Bios to exciting projects outside of Ballarat that the TDBM cast are involved with. There are series summaries, episode guides and episode reviews!

In addition to this, I have invited fellow Fb group admins Jan, Michele, Michelle and Joanne to help with a brand new feature on the website:- This blog!

We plan to revamp this blog space and make it a great discussion platform for everyone to interact on the website! Anyone will be able to comment, so share it with all your families and friends who wish to discuss all things TDBM! We will encourage as many of you to participate in this as possible!

We are all extremely thrilled that after 8 tireless months of campaigning, that we have finally received some great news that our show has been saved! It has been a momentous effort with over 17K signatures on the petition and nearly 5K active members in this Facebook group, who have all been eager to do as much as possible to save the show. We are all excited that we will be able to continue seeing our favourite characters on our TV screens! It is extremely satisfying to know that the fans of Doctor Blake Mysteries from all over the world have been able to work together to save an extraordinary series that we were all quietly confident could go on for many more seasons! We thank Channel 7 for rescuing Doctor Blake, and we also thank Craig and George and December Media for not giving up on the award winning series! Every member of the #BlakeArmy played their part in saving our show, from wherever they were in the world! So thanks to each and every one of you for actively campaigning with the #BlakeArmy! Let’s just say that there are thousands of people all over the globe who are currently celebrating with this exciting news!

As most of you know, when we heard the news in March that The Doctor Blake Mysteries was being cancelled, we started contacting networks asking them to save our show. We originally had Channel Ten on our list to contact but, when their financial troubles were made public, we put them on hold. Now that CBS (US Company) is in the process of buying them, their financial situation should improve and they could become a viable network for Doctor Blake. In fact, they might jump at the chance to snag an award winning show like this.

We did receive some promising news about Doctor Blake but an official announcement has not been made and inquiries to December Media were not answered. Because of that, we are launching one more campaign to try and get Channel Ten to save our show. Please mention the petition and add a link to our website. Everything is on the website, including a world clock, so that you can figure out when to contact Channel Ten based on where you live.

There is a time difference, so people in the US should contact them on Sunday but please check the clock if you aren't sure.

As we have done on previous campaigns, we are asking everyone to contact Channel Ten on the same day. We want to make a big splash and have them receive lots of posts, Tweets and calls at the same time!

ALERT! Many of you have seen the article on DeciderTV about the Season 5 premiere of Doctor Blake and the telemovie. It was mentioned in the article that both Foxtel and Channel 7 are interested in picking up Doctor Blake. We contacted Channel 7, as a group, a couple of weeks ago. Because it has been awhile since we have contacted Foxtel, we would like to get our next campaign started with them. A member (and admin of our group) recently sent a Tweet that had a positive response from Foxtel.
So, on this Wednesday 23 August, let's all contact Foxtel again. We need to strike while Foxtel is interested. We don't have much more time to find another network. To those of you who want a free-to air- network to pick up our show, we understand but, look at what Foxtel has done for A Place To Call Home. They have nurtured and promoted this show and it has been a ratings hit for Foxtel, and won awards. Remember that Foxtel will produce DVDs that everyone can purchase and your library should have them, so you will be able to see the show for free. And if your local library isn't "with the times" and doesn't have it, simply put in a purchase request with them so that they do purchase it and then you can continue to enjoy the show wherever you are in the world! Please everyone, contact them on Wednesday and add a link to our website. Everything is on it.

Just a gentle reminder to those in the US that you are behind Australia time wise, so on Tuesday there in the US, it is already Wednesday here in Australia. Please Google the time difference, if you are confused. Contact Foxtel as close to Wednesday as you can. We are going to keep up our campaigns to both Foxtel, and Channel 7, and keep up the good fight! In fact,  many have already been sending them both emails/messages/tweets etc right now! 

This Wednesday 23/8/17 the Save the Doctor Blake Mysteries Official Facebook Group will be campaigning Foxtel to consider saving our show! We strongly encourage EVERYONE to participate! Let's make our voices heard! Let's make it known just how much we want our show to be saved!

Hope everyone is ready to continue our fight to Save Doctor Blake! Our next network blitz begins today! A couple of months ago we tried to contact Netflix but it was difficult to do unless someone was a member. Netflix Australia has a Facebook page where messages can be send. So please send them a message asking Netflix Australia to Save Doctor Blake. Netflix does some original programming so we are hoping that they are a viable option. We want to contact them en masse to make a big splash and have them notice how huge the Doctor Blake Mysteries fan base is. We want other networks to notice us! There is a time difference so please contact them as close to Monday (Australian time) as you can.
We know that some people don't want a pay TV service to pick up Doctor Blake but our free -to-view options are limited. Remember that our goal is to SAVE our show! If the show isn't picked up by another network, there will be no more Doctor Blake and we don't want that. If a pay- to- view network picks it up, they will make DVDs that we will be able to purchase or check-out from the library. It will be a win for everyone. If any network picks up Doctor Blake, there will be a way to watch it.

We are also encouraging as many people as possible to tweet all of the Netflix accounts! Let's really make a noise and make our voices heard!

Members who are subscribers of Netflix already are STRONGLY urged to log in and contact Netflix as a subscriber! 

For those who are not on Twitter or Facebook or subscribers to Netflix, there is a Title Request form (link below) that you can fill out.  Suggested wording would be as follows:

Amazon is about to have a huge presence in Australia. Because of this, our next campaign will be to contact Amazon Video to request that they Save Doctor Blake. This coming Wednesday, June 21st, is the day for us to all post, email, call, Tweet and make ourselves heard! Amazon picked up Ripper Street when it was cancelled by the BBC, so we are hoping they will help us.
We know that some of you are hesitant about Pay TV but please participate. We have to remember that our goal is to Save Doctor Blake. If Amazon picks up our show, they will produce DVDs that can be purchased or checked out from your library for free. That way everyone will have access to the show. It would be a winning solution for everyone. If another network doesn’t pick it up, there will be no more Doctor Blake.
Our chancres that a free-to-air channel will pick up Doctor Blake are slim ABC won’t reconsider, Channel 10 is in terrible financial trouble and we have contacted Channel 9 with no response from them. There is a rumor that Channel 7 might be picking it up but, until we get an official statement about it, we need to keep our momentum going! The more noise we make with our posts, emails and Tweets, the more chances we have that other networks will hear us.
Please mention that The Doctor Blake Mysteries has been the ABCs #1 show for four years, watched by 1.7 million every week, worldwide fans and that viewers of all ages (that is very important) love the show. Mention the huge fan base etc. Add other things from our previous email blitzes that you think are important. Please include the link to our website. Everything is on the website but you can also add the petition link, too.

Doctor Blake Mysteries' lead actor, Craig McLachlan, has broken his silence to slam the Australian Broadcasting Corportation (ABC) for failing to deliver.  

McLachlan launched the ­tirade,  accusing the ABC of thumbing their nose at ratings and not giving viewers what they wanted when they axed the show last month.
